Hey friends,
A Salesforce Admin in the US makes about $100K in median total pay, with most people between $81K and $125K, according to self-reported Glassdoor data (Glassdoor, checked October 2026). Base pay runs $69K to $103K, and bonuses and other pay add $12K to $22K.
Salary pages are full of made-up precision, so I'm doing this differently: every number below links to where it came from and says what kind of data it is. Where there's no good data, I say so and give you my honest read instead of a fake number.

The three most common Salesforce career steps, from the same Glassdoor dataset.
Salesforce Admin salary in 2026: the numbers
| Measure | Figure | Source and type |
|---|---|---|
| Median total pay | $100K | Glassdoor, self-reported, Oct 2026 |
| Total pay range | $81K to $125K | Glassdoor, self-reported, Oct 2026 |
| Base pay range | $69K to $103K | Glassdoor, self-reported, Oct 2026 |
| Additional pay | $12K to $22K | Glassdoor, self-reported, Oct 2026 |
| Computer systems analysts, median | $105,850 | BLS, May 2025. Proxy occupation, not Salesforce-specific |
Why include BLS at all? Because it's the only large employer survey here. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't track "Salesforce Administrator" as a job, so the closest occupation is computer systems analysts. Treat it as a sanity check, not a Salesforce number.
Who pays more: employer examples
Glassdoor also breaks admin pay out by company. Three examples from the same page, total pay, checked October 2026:
| Employer | Median total pay | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon | $130K | $108K to $159K |
| Salesforce | $113K | $90K to $143K |
| Cognizant | $91K | $75K to $111K |
The lesson isn't "go work at Amazon". It's that the same title pays very differently depending on whether the company treats Salesforce as a core system or a side tool. In interviews, ask how many users the org has and who owns it. A bigger, more central org usually means a bigger scope and better pay. If you're getting ready to interview, here are the Salesforce admin interview questions I'd practice.
Junior, mid and senior admins
I couldn't find a reliable, loadable source that splits admin pay by experience level, so I'm not going to give you numbers. What I can tell you from my years in the Salesforce ecosystem is how the jobs differ:
- Junior admins mostly handle users, permissions, reports and small changes that someone else designed.
- Mid-level admins own a cloud or a business area, build Flows and work directly with stakeholders.
- Senior admins design the security model, own releases and say no to bad requests. That judgment is what gets paid.
Does the Admin certification raise your pay?
There's no trustworthy public dataset that isolates the effect of a certification on salary, so be careful with any page that quotes a percentage. If you're choosing which to earn, see Salesforce certifications for admins.
My honest read: the certification mostly affects whether you get the interview. Many admin job posts list it, and for career changers it's often the thing that gets a resume past the first filter. The raise comes later, from what you can do. That's also why I push hands-on practice so hard in my 6-week Admin study plan.
Remote vs onsite, and contract work
I also didn't find sourced admin numbers for remote vs onsite roles or for contract rates. In general, remote roles draw a national pool of applicants, so they're more competitive. Contract work can pay more per hour but usually comes without benefits or paid time off, so compare the full picture, not just the rate. If you're just starting out, see my guide to entry-level Salesforce admin jobs.
How admins grow their pay
Looking at Glassdoor's medians for the next roles is the clearest signal of where the money goes:
- Consultant: median total pay $120K, range $95K to $152K (Glassdoor, Oct 2026).
- Developer: median total pay $131K, range $108K to $160K (Glassdoor, Oct 2026). More in my Salesforce Developer salary breakdown.
If you're weighing that jump, read Admin vs Platform Developer I. And if you're not in Salesforce yet, start with how to break into Salesforce with no experience.
Getting the first admin job
- Get the Admin certification. My Admin certification guide covers cost and format, and the study guide covers every objective.
- Build three small, real things in a free Developer Edition org and write each one up.
- Practice the exam with my free Admin practice test and pass it on the first try.

Every figure comes from a page I loaded in full on October 11, 2026. Glassdoor numbers are self-reported by users and change over time. BLS figures are from its May 2025 survey for a related, broader occupation. Salesforce Ben, Indeed and ZipRecruiter blocked automated access, so they're not included. This isn't career or financial advice.
Hope this helps!
Best,
